Sant Rajinder Singh Ji Maharaj (India)

Born in India and educated as a scientist in the United States, he has a keen understanding of both mysticism and science. His training in both these disciplines has helped him express age-old mystical teachings in clear, logical language. Sant Rajinder Singh Ji Maharaj’s talks have been broadcast internationally on radio and television. His publications include books in fifty languages and hundreds of articles on spiritual topics. Sant Rajinder Singh Ji Maharaj, current head of Science of Spirituality/Sawan Kirpal Ruhani Mission, is internationally recognized for his work toward inner and outer peace through spirituality. He sponsors and participates in human unity activities in the Americas, Europe, Africa, Australia and India, where spiritual leaders and people of all traditions come together to focus on uniting at the level of the soul through spiritual fellowship. Recognizing the transcendent oneness at the heart of all religions, he emphasizes prayer and meditation as the true building blocks for achieving peace. On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the United Nations, as part of the festivities, he led an audience of thousands in meditation at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine in New York City. He received a peace award from the Interfaith Center of New York and the Temple of Understanding. He spoke at a ceremony honoring UN Secretary Kofi Annan and was a featured spiritual leader at the 2000 Millennium Peace Summit of religious and spiritual leaders held at the United Nations. In an interview with the New York Times, he stated that world peace could be a reality when each person finds peace within themselves and that inner peace could be attained through meditation.
