Adjan Chaiwood

Abbot of Thai monastery Wat Nong Bua. Adjan Chaiwood (Adjan is a Thai term for a teacher) came to the Buddhist monastery when he was 28, after service in the army. Subsequently he spent ten years meditating in seclusion and two years in a cave in absolute solitude. An abbot of a monastery has a high status in Buddhist hierarchy as well as in Thai social life.
