Sant Rajinder Singh

His Holiness Sant Rajinder Singh Ji Maharaj – Biographical Highlights
World Leader for Inner and Outer Peace
Sant Rajinder Singh Ji Maharaj, current head of Science of Spirituality/Sawan Kirpal Ruhani Mission, is internationally recognized for his work toward inner and outer peace through spirituality. He sponsors and participates in human unity activities in the Americas, Europe, Africa, Australia and India, where spiritual leaders and people of all traditions come together to focus on uniting at the level of the soul through spiritual fellowship. Recognizing the transcendent oneness at the heart of all religions, he emphasizes prayer and meditation as the true building blocks for achieving peace.
Personal Background
Born in India and educated as a scientist in the United States, he has a keen understanding of both mysticism and science. His training in both these disciplines has helped him express age-old mystical teachings in clear, logical language. Sant Rajinder Singh Ji Maharaj’s talks have been broadcast internationally on radio and television. His publications include books in fifty languages and hundreds of articles on spiritual topics. His latest English books with corresponding Spanish and Hindi translations include: Spiritual Pearls for Enlightened Living – Radiance Publishers; Silken Thread of the Divine – SK Publications; Inner and Outer Peace Through Meditation – Element Books; and Empowering Your Soul Through Meditation – Element Books.
Dedication to Human Unity
Sant Rajinder Singh Ji Maharaj’s dedication to the human unity movement leads to his global efforts to help humanity seek unity at the level of the soul and transcend individual racial, cultural, national, religious and economic differences. He is visiting Mexico as part of his ongoing global tours that offer political, religious, civic and social leaders from the local, state, national and international communities an opportunity to experience our universal oneness at the level of the soul through his spiritual guidance.
Sant Rajinder Singh Ji Maharaj travels to all corners of the world establishing centers of peace where individuals learn and practice a unique technique of meditation and ethical living, transforming themselves, their families and their communities.
Efforts toward Peace through Meditation
Realizing human unity at the level of the soul is his simple but practical prescription for global peace. Sant Rajinder Singh Ji Maharaj points out: “Within us is a divine spirit from which our intelligence and wisdom is derived. The process of accessing that inner divine spirit, intelligence and wisdom is called meditation; if we transform knowledge to wisdom by meditating and experiencing the driving force behind all existence then we have the key to human unity. This experience will transform our individual life and the lives of those around us. These individual transformations will ultimately bring unity and peace at the community, national and global levels.” He delivered this same message when he was an honored presenter at the United States Coast Guard Academy as part of a four-part series on Leadership.
On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the United Nations, as part of the festivities, he led an audience of thousands in meditation at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine in New York City. He received a peace award from the Interfaith Center of New York and the Temple of Understanding. He spoke at a ceremony honoring UN Secretary Kofi Annan and was a featured spiritual leader at the 2000 Millennium Peace Summit of religious and spiritual leaders held at the United Nations. In an interview with the New York Times, he stated that world peace could be a reality when each person finds peace within themselves and that inner peace could be attained through meditation.
In 1996, in New Delhi, India he convened a conference of global leaders from diverse spiritual, political, religious, social and civic backgrounds. Sant Rajinder Singh Ji Maharaj asked the group to conduct a spiritual dialogue on achieving non-violence through using prayer and meditation. Participants shared the same platform for four days exploring methods of how to transcend differences and interact at the level of the soul, instead of disagreeing along religious, economic or political lines. This dialog continues wherever he travels.
Education for peace
He has founded 17 Darshan Academy K-12 schools for peace in India and South America that integrate meditation into traditional school curricula. The goal is to produce students whose spiritual quotient is developed together with their intellectual quotient and whose world view is unobstructed by distinctions of race, nationality, religion or economic status. Students, teachers and administrators alike mediate together daily as part of the spiritual curriculum. Two such schools were recently established in Colombia and Ecuador and personally inaugurated by him in the spring of 2007.
The Organization
Science of Spirituality/Sawan Kirpal Ruhani Mission
Sant Rajinder Singh Ji Maharaj is the head of Science of Spirituality (SOS) in the Western Hemisphere. The organization is called Sawan Kirpal Ruhani Mission (SKRM) in India and the Eastern Hemisphere. He inspires the organization’s humanitarian efforts all over the world. SOS/SKRM responded immediately to tsunami relief by providing over 300 tons of food and clothing as part of the organization’s emergency relief effort. The organization also immediately raised over $100,000.00 in financial help for tsunami aid in addition to building three new schools donated to the local Indian Government in Southern India’s Tamil Nadu. SOS/SKRM was one of the first organizations to respond after the Gujarat earthquake, not with goods alone, but with a commitment to immediately begin rebuilding an entire village. A group of engineers from SKRM spearheaded the building program. Some left their families and jobs for eight months to serve in this effort. In one year, sharing the same living conditions as the local people, they built 50 new houses out of concrete, a community building/meditation hall, a small school, and a dispensary. SOS/SKRM also provided financial earthquake relief to Central and South America and Funds were raised for hurricane Katrina aid in New Orleans.
SOS/SKRM has 1500 centers throughout the world which offer the local community workshops, lectures, and retreats on meditation, spirituality and related topics without charging participants. Topics include how to develop nonviolence through meditation, how to transcend substance abuse through meditation, how to experience the power of the soul through meditation, and how to develop forgiveness and compassion through meditation.
International Global Conferences
The organization holds one annual, international global conference on mysticism and one on human integration in Delhi, India, bringing together spiritual, religious, political, civic, social leaders from all national, international, social, and economic strata to examine and implement strategy to make spirituality an integral part of addressing today’s global challenges.
In August 2007, he visited New York. This was preceded by earlier global conferences on peace: the 23rd International Human Unity Conference in Delhi, India, September 2006, where he received a special tribute from the Michigan State Legislature for his achievements in the area of human unity; and the April 2007 24th International Human Unity Conference which he convened in Bogota, Cali and Medellin, Colombia. He received gubernatorial and mayoral tributes at the South American Conference as well. He has presided over ten International Human Unity Conferences in India, South America, Europe and the Caribbean.
While the spiritual leader was in New York, New York State Assemblyman Jose R. Peralta (D. 39th District) stated: “On the occasion of his visit to the Empire State, it is imperative to honor H.H. Sant Rajinder Singh Ji Maharaj who breaths life into the human unity movement. His is a global effort to seek unity at the level of the soul and transcend racial, cultural, national, religious and economic differences.
