Pablo Russel is a blood-related American Indian from the “Blackfoot/Blood Tribe in Alberta/Calgary”. His tribal name is “Shooting in the air”. He is the oldest one of his tribe, respected teacher, healer, sun-dancer and the teacher of sun-dance. Pablo was educated by his grandparents in a direct line of “Blood” Amerindians who also hand Pablo over traditional secret learning of his tribe. Pablo has been a sun-dancer for more than 20 years, and currently leads more than 1000 dancing classes (Switzhut). Pablo workes with the First National Organization in the world and teaches on cultural environment, on the view to the world, system of values and holly ceremonies of the “Blood” tribe. As a teacher, he is more than active in Teepee-camps of his tribe, during which drug addicted persons, alcoholics, and convicted people are taught to find their way back to creative world. He worked as a teacher of “Blackfeet” language for Red Crow College and a cultural advisor for Native Archives Special Collection of the museum Glenbow in Calgary/Alberta.
